Lucky Blocks

A block pattern is published each month in the newsletter. Members are encouraged to make a block (or several) to turn in at the next meeting. Members receive one chance, for each block they turn in, to win a set of blocks. One set of blocks per participant per drawing.

If you make two blocks, one for guild and one for yourself, you will have a quilt top at the end of the year.  Everyone who finishes and shares their finished quilt top will be entered to win a prize! If you need help, please call or email Laurie Paurazas and she will answer any questions you may have.

Petal 2 - Tone on Tone

(2)   7” squares

Background - White

(4)   3½” squares

VIP TIP!  Check the diagrams before you sew – the placement of the floral fabric does matter. 😉

  1. Petals/Half Square Triangle Units - Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of both Tone on Tone 7” squares. Match these to the 7” Floral squares, right sides together, and stitch a scant ¼” from both sides of the drawn line Fig A. Cut apart on the drawn line and press away from the Square up to 6½” and trim dog ears.
  2. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the White 2½” squares and on the White 3½” squares.
  3. VIP- Position the 6½” Half Square Triangle Units exactly as shown in Fig B - it does matter which side the floral is on. Match the White 2½” squares to the bottom left corner. Stitch on the drawn line. Press to the White and trim the seam allowance to ¼”.
Match a 3½” square to the other corner of the large Half Square Triangle Units and sew on the drawn line Fig C.
  4. Lay out the four sections to match Fig D with the small white triangles in the center and sew the rows together. Press open. Sew the rows together and press the final seam open.
