Philanthropy
There are two philanthropic committees in our guild. The General Philanthropy Committee and Cuddle Quilts. The General Philanthropy committee coordinates projects such as pillowcases and placemats. We look for projects that can be temporary in nature, but serve a need in the community.
We currently donate pillowcases to Rady Children's Hospital for kids 2-18 years old who are dealing with a catastrophic illness. Please use pre-washed cotton fabrics that are bright, colorful and geared to the interest of children in this age group. Be sure they are pressed and all pins removed!
The Cuddle Quilts committee oversees the philanthropic endeavor of making quilts which are donated to a variety of organizations including hospice care, hospitals, and local group homes.
(One of the organizations that receive our quilts is Moms for USA at Camp Pendleton which does the Baby Showers in a Box for military families.)
Every month we have three workshops where members are provided with kits, batting and backing to work on (or members can bring a quilt from home for “Cuddle Quilts”). Just bring your sewing machine, sewing supplies and lunch. This is a great place to meet members, learn techniques from other quilters and have a great time!
THE WORKSHOPS ARE NOT MEETING IN PERSON DURING COVID RESTRICTIONS.
