President's Letter, February 2022

I’m writing this letter from Road to California, where we are selling opportunity tickets for our beautiful El Camino Quilters Opportunity Quilt, Circles in the Squares. Thank you to Patti Rusk and all her helpers for creating such a magnificent quilt. And thank you to Robin Sutherland and all of you who are helping with the marketing of the quilt.

Road to California has been one of my favorite parts of starting a new year of quilting. It has been especially wonderful this year seeing the quilting community come together again. It is a reminder to me of how important my quilting community has been to me during the past two difficult years.

owlsFor those of you who are still unable to attend in-person events, our guild will continue through this year to provide our meeting in a hybrid format. Our speakers will be live at meetings in our new venue, Faith Community Church in Carlsbad. We will provide a Zoom feed of the meeting to all members. You should receive your Zoom invitation a couple of days prior to the meeting. The meeting ID and password are always the same, however, so if you can’t find the current Zoom information you can use the information from previous meetings.

If you have any question or suggestions for the Zoom meeting, board member Kris Doan is facilitating the Zoom meetings along with her husband Tony. Special thanks to Tony for helping us out in this regard! You can reach Kris at her This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

For those of you who are attending our meetings in person, a quick reminder that we cannot park in the parking spaces immediately in front of the church entrance. Those are reserved for the church staff. All the rest of the convenient parking spaces are available for us.

If you were surprised by the fact that we didn’t ask you for dues at our January meeting, you were not alone! During the pandemic, we voted to change the membership year from March 1 to February 28. Your dues are payable in March, either at the March meeting or by mail. We hope you will renew your membership and continue to take advantage of all that El Camino Quilters has to offer, either at our live meetings and events, or through our virtual presence on Zoom and Facebook. And if you have friends who are quilters but are not members of our guild, encourage them to join.

We want to grow our community!

Yours in quilting and community, Linda Stanwood
