North San Diego County's Premier Quilting Guild

Fall always seems busy. Back to school, last harvests of summer crops, pumpkins and fall colors begin to spread across the landscape and then into our homes for decorations, and the list grows as the weather changes. It’s busy for Cuddle too, especially this year.

The Wintertide Market at the November 11 guild meeting is a unique opportunity to fundraise. We can’t do this without your participation either as a crafter or a consumer, or better yet, both! Items crafted by you for this Market need to be turned in at the October guild meeting.

Your efforts help defray the cost of batting-and we use lots of it! This month we gave 65 quilts to the Camp Pendleton ASYMCA for the Marine Corp newborns and children.

Your participation is the only way that Cuddle can do what we do, so thank you for helping us help others.

Please note the date change for the August Construction Zone at El Corazon Senior Center in Oceanside.  We will be meeting on Thursday, August 24 from 9-3.

This will be a Wintertide Market Construction Zone. We will be constructing ornaments using fabrics, batting, and embellishments of tulle, buttons, ribbons, lace, yarn, and embroidery threads. Here is a chance to bring all of those bits and pieces and put together something cute, festive, or even edgy!

Now I know that you might make an ornament that you just love-I wanna take this home! So we came up with the "Dibs Program". You can purchase your fav ornament for $5. Cash or checks made out to "El Camino Quilters" will be accepted. These will be considered presales for the Wintertide Market.

The proceeds from the Wintertide Market help pay for Cuddle batting.

So come on August 24 and get creative, bounce ideas off your pals, and have fun making these special little projects.

The November guild meeting is a total Cuddle production. There will be speakers (three) followed by the Wintertide Market. This Market will feature holiday decorations and gifts - and this is where I need your help in providing charming, tempting, and delightful items with a boutique ambiance. These may include holiday decorations, ornaments and gifts.

So I'm inviting Friendship Groups as well as individuals to participate. If you have any questions you can contact me, Jan Jordan, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Cuddle has been very busy these last few weeks-and so have you! Thank you!

We have delivered many beautiful items that you have made.

The biggest donation is 65 baby quilts and 27 receiving blankets to the Foundation for Women Warriors for their big baby shower on June 17.

We also gave TIP (Trauma Intervention Program) 25 quilts to give to the survivors that they help and assist. 50 table runners and a quilt with a matching pillowcase were given to the San Marcos Senior Center for their Mother's Day tea. These table runners can be any length and are a great way to use up orphan blocks. We also delivered 16 quilts and matching pillowcases to San Pasqual Foster Academy for the graduating seniors.

We will also be meeting the ASYMCA of Camp Pendleton to hand off baby and kid quilts.

In support of the Flags of Freedom Challenge, Cuddle will have a bin of patriotic fabrics to assist you with your designs. Good Luck!

Have we told you lately just how wonderful and inspiring all of you are? You are always asking us what we need and we frequently seem to say, “Baby Quilts”!

These are usually in the 40x40 inch range and can be completed start to finish on a domestic machine…but not always…sometimes you only want to do the tops. So we were inspired by you to find easy patterns that could be completed in 3 hours or less. Our Construction Zone at QIAD on the first Thursday of the month is from 9 to 12:30. Just enough time to sew up our new easy baby tops!

We will have kits for you to make so all you have to do is bring your machine, thread, and tools. These quilts will primarily go to military babies through the Armed Services YMCA at Camp Pendleton and the Federation of Women Warriors. A few will go to Angels Foster Family Network.

So we hope this makes the full circle to inspire you to come to our Construction Zones and work on these beautiful baby creations.

Cuddle wants to thank Diana Lacey for fixing our tabletop ironing board. It has had a hole in the fabric that was getting bigger the last few months. Just when Candy said she would take it home to fix, here came Diana to the Oceanside Cuddle Zone with new fabric, batting and a staple gun to do the repairs. Thanks again, Diana!
