North San Diego County's Premier Quilting Guild

Cuddle will be focusing the Construction Zones for the next 3 months on creating baby items for the Foundation for Women Warriors for their upcoming baby showers for pregnant soldiers in May. Come sew with us and help us make baby quilts, burp cloths and receiving blankets for these women who are serving our country. We will have kits for most of the items at the construction zones!

Congratulations to all our volunteers who worked so hard in 2022.

So, I'm going to blame Cuddle...I'm having trouble sleeping.

This is because we have an exciting new year ahead of us and my brain keeps buzzing with ideas.

We have received beautiful donations which are producing quilts that truly amaze and colorful pillowcases, placemats, and NICU blankets, too.  We are brainstorming on how to use this fabric to keep projects fun and easy at our Construction Zones.  One of our focus areas involves baby and wheelchair quilts which are both typically 40"x40".  There are lots of great blocks and patterns to consider.  So stay tuned...

We are excited to be having both the guild meeting and a Cuddle Construction Zone at the El Corazon Senior Center.  We have donated placemats and wheelchair quilts to them for many years and we recently added quilts that can be awarded as prizes or displayed.

So as ususal, there is lots going on, but don't worry...I'll just take naps.

So last month I brought up the subject of change.  This had to do with changing to our "Construction Zones".  This was a change that was initiated by us.  But what about the changes that we observe?

Years ago Cuddle had a 10'x10' storage space; now we have a 10'x20'.  Both were/are filled with fabric donations.  Even the donations have changed.  We have received fabrics that have increased in size and quality.  These are incorporated into all of the projects that we construct.  So over time our quilts, pillowcases, placemats, receiving blankets, and NICU blankets have gotten more colorful and just nicer in general.

This observable change just makes our job nicer too.

So we thank you for your donations and for working with these fabrics to produce beautiful items that give warmth and cheer to those who receive them.

Change...the word itself causes a fight or flight response in many people.  Not me!  I like change--especially if there's a big reason for it--but even a medium reason is good enough.

So, the name "Workshop" is shared by both Cuddle and Programs, which can cause some confusion.  Cuddle is free, but the other is not.  So in order to only have one kind of workshop, Cuddle will now become:            CUDDLE CONSTRUCTION ZONES

No eye rolling, ok?  I diligently searched my Roget's Thesaurus and eliminated names that were boring, obscure, not quite right, or down right obnoxious/politically incorrect.  Besides, we do construction and the word "Zone" is just a kick!  You know, quiet zone to danger zone; zoning in and/or out; and my fave...Fun Zone!

We will have "bosses" for our zones.  Candy Mittag and Jan Jordan will co-boss Oceanside El Corazon and San Marcos Senior Centers, while Julie Calvario will be the boss at QIAD.

Safety helmets and goggles are not required!  See you in the Zone!

The CUDDLE CONSTRUCTION ZONE!
