 "Cuddle" PHILANTHROPY

This group is our guild's most tireless group of quilters. They coordinate fabric collection, storage, and the construction and distribution of items to primarily San Diego County-based charities.

Chaired by Jan Jordan, Candy Mittag & Colleen McCune, the Cuddle team works with our guild members to make quilts, place mats, baby blankets, burp cloths, pillow cases, and other items for a huge number of local charities, including: Elizabeth Hospice (including Camp Spiro), San Pasqual Academy students, North County Oncology, Oceanside & San Marcos Seniors’ Centers, Foundation for Women Warriors, TIP - Trauma Intervention Program, Camp Pendleton Armed Services YMCA, Residential facilities for developmentally disabled adults, Veterans’ Pinning Ceremonies, The Veterans Administration, the Lions Camp for Deaf Children, Gently Hugged, the Salvation Army's Door of Hope, and more.


In 2025, Cuddle made & donated
nearly 2,000 items,
valued at $60,650, including:

76  NICU blankets
485 Quilts
440 Placemats
221 Pillowcases
8 Table Runners

150 Napkins 
406 Burp Cloths
and more!

Projects are ALWAYS available for completion at Guild meetings; tops to be pieced, quilted, and bound. The group also meets throughout each month at several locations.

DONATION GUIDELINES

We welcome all donations, and you can be assured that your contribution will be put to good use! The easiest way to help is to donate and let us use our discretion in how we put your donation to work!

However, some donors strongly wish to support Cuddle, and we can accommodate that! Write "El Camino Quilters" on your check, and the Treasurer will put your donation to work supporting Cuddle.

Do you want to give the gift of Guild membership to someone who can't afford the membership dues? We will never turn anyone away who wants to learn about the beautiful art of quilting or help those in need with our warm, cozy quilts and other items.  You can help by donating to our "Angel Fund," a special fund we set aside to cover membership dues for those who need it. Just write "Angel Fund" on the description line of your check (made out to "El Camino Quilters").

Making a cash donation? No problem. Put your cash in an envelope or Post-it note. Donation receipts are available.

Unguided donations are the most flexible way to support ECQ and allow us to direct funds to where they are most needed.

In line with our non-profit mission, we direct donations to 501(c)3 charities and/or military/veteran organizations.
