PRESIDENT'S LETTER AUGUST 2022
In my August letter I want to share with all of you an organization that I only recently learned about. The American Quilt Study Group was formed in 1980 to study, research and publish books and papers about the history of quilting and textiles. It has 800 members from all over the world, and this year their annual seminar will be held in San Diego for the first time ever, from September 28 to October 2. The venue for the annual AQSG seminar changes every year, so this is probably the only chance you will ever have to attend the seminar in San Diego.
Claire McKarns from AQSG will be attending our August meeting, and she will give a brief presentation to us about the American Quilt Study Group. This is in addition to our regular speaker, Linda Sullivan from Colourwerx.
You can obtain information about the American Quilt Study Group's seminar, and register for seminar activities, at the AQSG website, americanquiltstudygroup.org. Seminar activities include the presentation of papers, speakers, a quilt show, sales of quilts, a silent auction and a quilt exhibition. The seminar will take place at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside Hotel. The deadline for registration if you are interested in attending, is August 19, 2022.
Turning to our own guild activities, we still have room for a few more people on our Long Beach International Quilt Show Bus Trip. If you are interested in joining the group going to the show by bus on Saturday, August 6, please get in touch with Debbie Timmons,
And don't forget, September 13 is our big fund raiser, a silent auction and megasale, that will take place at our new venue, The Fields Church, 2265 Camino Vida Roble, Carlsbad, CA 92011. We will be meeting at Faith Community Church for the last time for our August meeting. The remainder of our 2022 meetings will be at the Fields Church.
