PRESIDENTS’ LETTER MAY 2022

Happy Spring! I hope you have all been enjoying all the spring activities. It has been wonderful to get out and do so many of the things we have missed over the past two years. And we have a lot to look forward to at our guild over the next few months!

First and foremost, it is time to sign up for the 2023 Retreat! Jo Anne Foster will be accepting applications and deposits at the May guild meeting. If you have never been to our annual retreat at Vina de Lestonnac, you have missed one of the big benefits of being a guild member. Check out the article in this edition of Quilt Scraps to get all the details.

This year the Long Beach International Quilt show is also back in person from August 3 through 6. We are planning to offer a guild bus trip to the show. If you would be interested, contact our bus chairpersons, Nancy Hansen, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and Debbie Timmons, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. We will be starting sign-ups soon. Check out the article below.

And of course we have a lot of great programs and workshops planned for the rest of this year, so take a look at that article and start making plans to sign up for these workshops.

But our big upcoming event is the annual fundraiser. This year we are doing a silent auction and sale in September. There will be plenty of things for sale and auction to appeal to all our quilters, and this year we hope to have some new and different auction items to interest the broader community of friends and family.

There are two major ways that each of you can help us make this fundraiser a success. First, donate something for the sale or auction. Second (and even more importantly) help us publicize our fundraiser to our friends and neighbors. And there are lots of other ways to get involved. Be sure to check out the article about the Silent Auction in this edition of the newsletter.

Yours in Quilting,

Linda Stanwood President
